Best I’ve tried

I’ve been wetshaving for a while now and had been using a gillet vintage and I liked it. I bought this razor to use as a travel razed and it’s been perfect for me. It’s just aggressive enough that I can get a close shave in two passes, and it’s still comfortable enough to not leave irritation. Love it!

I bought the V3 head for an EJ DE89 razor (the old head had patches of the chrome coating flaked off). At first, the new head didn't screw down far enough on the old handle. I tried cleaning the inside of the old handle and added a bit of lubricant. That did the job. My impression is similar to others - the new V3 is slightly more aggressive. I used the last of my Crystal blades and will be coming back for suggestions for new ones to pair with this razor.

This is a really nice razor head. I received it as the standard head on on MR8 razor handle. I bought the handle to use with other heads, but the quality and shave characteristics of this head both surprised me and I have been using it more than expected. The fit and finish are very nice for a sub-ten dollar razor head. IT is well done. Some knock "pot metal" razor heads, but if you research the major razor manufacturers most are still using zinc for their heads, often at three or four times the price of this head. As for the shave, it is a mild head. While they describe this is average or standard, I would call it mild. It is not as mild as my old tech or gillette open comb heads, but it is definitely very mild. For me it is too mild when I have more than a days growth. For day to day shaving it is fine and produces a very comfortable and clean shave with 2-3 passes. Shaving against the grain is no problem either. I use more aggressive heads when needed and use this when I have less growth, and for that purpose it has been great.
