Length: 3.5" 89mm

Weight: 3.73oz 106g

Blade Gap: 0.012" - 0.052"

When you first hold The Ambassador you’ll immediately notice its quality. This double edge safety razor is manufactured from marine-grade stainless steel for maximum durability and ease-of-use. It is perfectly weighted and balanced and features a “Sure Grip” handle that makes the razor easy to hold, even when wet.

The Ambassador is infinitely adjustable, making it easy to find the best possible blade exposure for your skin. It is fully compatible with any double edge blade, giving you lots of options and combinations to “dial-in” a consistently perfect shaving experience. After just a few passes, you’ll find the razor glides across the skin almost effortlessly, while leaving behind a noticeably soft, clean and fully groomed path.

The Ambassador razor is “Made in the USA” and designed for a lifetime of use. Each razor features an individual serial number and a manufacturing code that adheres to the classic Gillette® product dating system. This razor comes with a lifetime warranty.

I've tried and I've tried and I've tried..... to like this razor. Not happening. Been wet shaving exclusively since 1998 - so no, not a noob. Usually run the #4 Rockwell plate on first pass. Worst razor I've ever had - the head exposes about 1 mm more blade edge than my other razors. Even dialed down to a "1" setting, it is still like scraping my neck with a cheese grater or a rasp. Hoping I can recoup some of the outrageous cost of this item on the secondhand market.

I really wanted to love this razor. I mean, look at it! It's incredible! I do love the classic, industrial design. I also love the homage to Gillette's 195 Adjustable Razor (Fatboy). I love that it's stainless steel. The quality and workmanship are second to none. That's about where the love stops for me. Don't get me wrong. I do like this razor, but it's not exactly what I was hoping for. The main issue I have with it is it's very aggressive. I normally gravitate to mild razors, and I use the 2 setting on my old Fatboy. I tried the 2 setting on the Ambassador and could immediately tell it was too aggressive. I turned it down to 1.5 and that was too aggressive. I then turned it down as low as I could, which was ok. I'm getting smooth, relatively irritation free shaves. It's just that I can still feel so much blade on my skin. I have very fair, sensitive skin, and even medium razors tend to tear up my face. Perhaps I'm judging this razor too harshly. Perhaps it's meant to be highly efficient regardless of the setting. Perhaps I need to change my angle of attack. Maybe a different blade. I don't know, but I'll keep fiddling with it to see if I can get what I want out of it.

I love the handle on this! The chromium-plated fluting on a Merkur Progress seemed okay until I shaved with the Ambassador. Now I only need to hold, but not really 'grip' the Ambassador as its weight is sufficient to marry the finely-milled handle texture with my fingertip ridges. I'm a senior but don't have pain or arthritis or weakness in my hands, but do prefer maintaining a delicate touch while shaving. I kept the Merkur nearly fully tightened toward its mildest setting but lately the adjuster began drifting on its own and that, together with (normally hidden) flaking chromium plating had me search for something comparable and crafted of stainless steel. The Ambassador presents its blade differently than the razor I'm coming from. Whatever is technically different about it has been pleasingly so, for the mildest setting on this Ambassador felt to me as if it had no blade in it! Today was Ambassador shave number four at setting 2.5 and while it seemed more aggressive than I'm accustomed to, it didn't require much caution to remain 'safe.'
