Too Wimpy

I contacted Maggard Razors before purchasing the Maggard Razors SS70 Safety Razor Head. I was told that it was about the aggressiveness of the Maggard V3 that I already had. Unfortunately I can not agree. It is a very mild shave, I don’t like it. I like the aggressiveness of the V3 but again, I am disappointed because the blade refuses to sit straight in the razor so unless you take a LOT of time to line up the blade exposure - it nicks profusely. I am disappointed all the way around with the quality of Maggard branded products. If the V3 held the blade evenly - it would be perfect. If the SS70 was a little more aggressive - I’d like it. As of now, I am disappointed.

Shocking

I've put off writing this review until I had used my SS70 for a month or so. I didn't want a burst of enthusiasm for a new, shiny object to prevent a sober evaluation of its performance. I bought an SS70 after a brief email exchange with Brad in which he helped me zero in on what I was looking for. It was one of three recommendations he made. I must say I have been shocked and pleased by how smooth this razor head has been, whatever the age of the blade. The SS70 is hands down the best tool purchase I've made in years; everything it should be and not one thing it shouldn't. Dang.

The SS70 sports a brilliantly polish surface. The alignment is precise: both sides of the razor are mirror images of the other, and the blade sits squarely, as it should. As for the shave, it was without a drop of blood— smooth yet efficient enough that I didn’t have to apply excessive pressure. I should have got this razor in the beginning of my wet shaving journey.

Wow, What A Shave!!

I had my first shave with the SS70 this morning and all I can say is wow, 2 passes and it was the best shave I've had in a long long time... I originally paired it with the MR8 handle, it was excellent around my mouth, which is where I've had issues for 40 years; for the rest of my shave I changed the handle to the MR3, the extra length gave me more leverage and made the two passes very smooth, with the exception of the same spot on my chin that I have nicked every shave for 60 years. Seriously. This is a terrifically engineered tool, just outstanding. It was a pleasure shaving my very coarse and wiry 4 day old growth on this 75 year old face. This is a somewhat aggressive head, but extremely smooth. Now I know for anything beyond 2 days, this will be my go-to.
