Cool - bergamot, lemon, and lavender.

Fougère Angelique - Notes of, Lime, Lavender, Lemon, Neroli, Geranium, Tonka Bean, Cedar, Balsam Fir, Sandalwood, Smoldering Flame, Oakmoss

Fougère Classique Richly floral, stunningly opulent assemblage of lavender, oakmoss, coumarin, bergamot, geranium, jasmine, ylang ylang, benzoin, labdanum, patcuouli, heliotrope, musk, and vanilla.

Fougère Gothique - Notes of lavender, oakmoss, tonka, balsam fir, bergamot, vetiver, geranium, cedar, earth, sandalwood, musk, leather, tuberose, essence of ashes and the smoldering flame.

Lavanille -  Lavender, vanilla, cedar, and the elegant musk.

LavenderBased on a beautiful aftershave from Wales, this is the scent described by famed perfume critic Luca Turin as "Summer wind made smell" and "the greatest lavender of all time." We definitely agree.

Le Grand Chypre - Bergamot, lime, labdanum, oakmoss, and a touch of patchouli to produce an elegant, citrusy heart. We wrapped it in notes of peach, rose, frankincense, cedar, cinnamon.

Mûir(e) Wood Blackberry seemed a perfect choice to blend with the jammy resin of balsam fir, while oakmoss and vetiver lace the undergrowth, imparting earthy mossiness and wood. The scent of damp air, so common in the Pacific Northwest where Muir made his home.

Seville - Lemon, bergamot, rosemary, lavender, patchouli, and oakmoss.

Spice - Notes of carnation, nutmeg, vanilla, and tonka bean, Spice is great for when you're looking for a bit of history. Your suave, dapper grandfather? He used soaps like this and smelled awesome doing it.

Waves - Geranium, Lavender, Amber, Aquatic Notes.

In order to use the sample you need to remove it from the jar that it comes in and press it into the bottom of a bowl. You can then take your brush and load on top of the soap for 30-60 seconds. Enjoy!

Each container is hand packed by one of the Maggard Razors team from bulk Barrister & Mann containers. Each sample is enough for approximately 5 shaves!

The 1/4oz jars will be filled to the bottom of the threads.

I’m a fool for the blue

And now the Reserve Cool ! I’ve not veered too far into some of B&M’s more polarizing scents, but you cannot deny the premier level of their soap performance & clean ingredients. I was curious how they would interpret this long since vanished Floid’s Blue. Wow… just what I like. That powdery, barbershop trinity weaving bergamot, lemon & lavender together. I’d liken it most similarly to Fine’s Barber Blue (but Fine burns more). Like it so much I’ll keep this juice around forever. AND ordering thru MAGGARD’s is a pleasure. I’ve never been disappointed by my dealing with them. They are the standard for shipping, value and extensive inventory this community has come to rely upon. Thank you Maggard’s.

Best Way To Find Your Scents!

Maggard does a great job of providing value/insurance to find what you like. Scents are very personal and no one wants to make a mistake with a $20+ container of soap. I use an iced tea spoon and scoop mine out into a Maggard's PETG 6 oz. jar, and smear it across the bottom (container might be the same that Declaration Grooming uses for their soaps). I like to lather off the puck and face lather, so that method is perfect for me. I initially bought full containers of several B&M soaps, which I loved, but wanted to experiment more without risking buying a full container that didn't agree with my olfactory senses or skin (I ran into this with another brand). I have several soaps from B&M, and love almost all of them, and only one is just OK, which I still use anyway. I thought I would absolutely love it from the scent profile, but as I mentioned earlier, scents are very personal. Overall, B&M is my favorite line and is the largest amount of products in my collection. There are a few other brands that I've tried samples and then bought the full containers and matching splashes. I'm glad that Maggard also has samples from many other artisans. I am expanding my collection as I experiment with more and more samples. I encourage folks to give their honest opinions on scents, because some just don't work for everyone. Also, using the method above, I get a solid 5 shaves per sample, with tons of lather. Happy scent discovery!

Classic, Lavanille

The Classic was a touch too "perfumey" for me. The Lavanille was quite different from the other samples I tried. Maybe it was the Omnibus base? I found it slightly harder to create a lather. Definitely musky.

Record Store

Lavanille Smelled great when I removed the lid. When I whipped it up and applied it, I was struck by a unique scent memory of browsing for used vinyl LPs. There's a distinct whiff of dust and smoky album sleeves. As a DJ, I find it a comforting aroma, but smelling like a used record store isn't the best for date night.
