Fine Accoutrements American Blend Classic Aftershave Splash, 100ml

American Blend used to be my all-time absolute favorite aftershave. “My” scent. I ordered a few new bottles (square blocky design) to restock because I was down to my last flask-style bottle. Immediately I knew something was off with the new bottles. The familiar yellow tint isn’t there anymore and the scent isn’t the same as my older-design bottle I still have. The scent is weaker, with more alcohol scent coming through, and it doesn’t last nearly as long. I still have the old bottle to compare it to and it is absolutely not the same. The recipe has obviously changed, possibly to cut costs. It still smells good, but it’s not the rich and long-lasting aftershave it was. The worst part about it is the price increased from $15 to $20 per bottle!

My rating is solely based on performance. Since this is an alcohol based splash, the skin soothing properties are not the best. Once applied, the splash feels great and the skin does feel soft. I knocked off one star because as it is with most alcohol based splashes, it dries out my skin about 10-15 minutes later. Fragrance wise it is very old school with heavy notes of anise (black licorice). Rounding out for me is geranium and oakmoss. It's a very old school scent.

This aftershave absolutely blew my mind. I was skeptical but when I first gave this a try it had this familiar smell that I couldn't quite put my foot on. But as I let it dry down it brought back memories of going to the local barbershop when I was a kid. Its amazing that Fine Accoutrements nailed that scent so perfectly. Its such a nice clean masculine scent that stands in stark contrast to a lot of modern scents in that it doesn't project itself in a manner that invades your olfactory senses. This is a Fine aftershave no pun intended!

I have ordered this and a few other scents from Fine Accoutrements, this has become my favorite and I use it every day I shave.
