The MERKUR razor 34C is also known among fans by the abbreviation “HD”, short for Heavy Duty. The safety razor has earned this compliment over the past 80 years due to its massive weight. But the 34C also has a soulful side: with a few razors you will be able to remove your hair more gently than with this classic.

Material: Brass handle, die-cast zinc razor head, electroplated surfaces, bright chrome
Blade Description: closed comb, straight cut
Handle Lock: Long screw, two-piece razor
Handle Diameter: 1.2
Dimensions: 4.2 cm x 2.5 cm x 8.3 cm

MATERIAL
The head of the plane is manufactured using the zinc die-casting process, as this enables very precise manufacturing tolerances and complex shapes. In order to ensure a comfortable weight distribution, we only use brass for the handle. The chrome finish protects the razor from corrosion and underlines the high-quality design.

BLADE DESCRIPTION
A safety razor with a closed comb is the all-rounder for classic wet shaving. You will intuitively feel the correct setting angle of your plane and immediately admire the best shaving results. The generous blade gap enables a high flow of soap and thus protects the razor head from being clogged with cut hair or foam residues.

Merkur 34C is the razor teacher. It is just a bit aggressive so you have to learn, but not so aggressive to hack your face to pieces. The short handle helps you manipulate the head easily and makes it top heavy,so you don't have to apply pressure at all.The handle texture gives you perfect grip, even with the slickest lather.A top seller with a good reason.

Excellent razor for new wet shavers. Good learning razor. Gives a great close shave, and very forgiving.

I have had the Merkur 34C for almost 2 years and all I can say is wow, what a great razor. The handle is very easy to learn/use and it's the perfect length (not too long, not too short). It accepts any DE Safety blade that I have tried (6+ brands and counting) and it's easy to clean & disassemble. I chose the 34C way back when after a lot of research/reading reviews, and I highly recommend this razor for any man from DE blade beginners (like I was 2 years ago) all the way to every day shaving experts. Replacement blades are also way cheaper than what is sold at the grocery store.

This razor provides an easy, comfortable shave, and works well with a variety of blades. If you are considering this razor, note that it is a 2-piece design, fairly unusual in DE razors. Some users find it slightly easier to change blades with the 2-piece design (vs. 3-piece). It can be slightly more difficult to clean thoroughly than a 3-piece razor. And the 2-piece design means that you cannot mix-and-match handle and razor head, as you can with a 3-piece. The handle is hollow to accommodate the 2-piece design, but the weight is still good, comparable to or heavier than many. The finish is not quite as perfect as the Edwin Jagger DE89, but still quite good. If you don't want to spend $40-50 for a razor, you should probably consider the Maggard razors, which are about half that price. The Maggard line of DE razors keeps growing and improving, with a large number of handle and head choices (open comb and two kinds of closed comb), so you can almost "design your own razor" to your personal preferences. Maggard's service is outstanding, and they have a large selection of wet shaving products, one-stop shopping for all your shaving needs.

Shave Busta is right! This is a great razor! I gave it a four star rating because I think the chrome could be much better. That is literally my only complaint though. It feels very natural in my hands and is so easy to use. This razor has helped turn the chore of shaving into a fun and relaxing hobby. I will be recommending this razor to friends and family.
