Vetiver: The vetiver essential oil used in this soap hails from Haiti and is certified organic. It's deep, earthy, smoky, and just a little sweet

This soap is the real deal. Tallow is the main ingredient, regarded by many shaving enthusiasts (myself included) as yielding the creamiest, slickest, and most protective lather possible. In addition, this soap is rich in vegetable glycerin, kokum butter, shea butter, and avocado oil. It also contains kaolin clay, which creates a slick buffer between your skin and the blade.

The icing on the cake is lanolin, a waxy substance derived from the wool of sheep and a fantastic conditioner and humectant. This soap will provide an effortless and downright decadent shave that will leave your skin feeling soft, supple, and smooth. Each tin contains about 5 ounces of soap.

Ingredients: Distilled water; saponified tallow (beef) and stearic acid; vegetable glycerin; saponified kokum butter, avocado oil, and shea butter; lanolin, fragrance and/or essential oil(s); saponified coconut oil; kaolin clay, vitamin E.

Mike's vetiver is perfection

Superb soap as expected. Aroma, lather, glide, post shave protection - all superb. I shaved with Mike's soaps when they were made in Brooklyn, NY and Ann Arbor, MI. Nice to shave with a soap that has never compromised its character despite moving across the country.

Customer review

I purchased this soap as I am running low on Stirling Port Au Prince which is vetiver and lemongrass, this one is just vetiver, in my opinion these soaps both smell very different to each other and both have individual merits, I really like that this one is just vetiver as I can appreciate the depth to the scent which to me is a sort of pungenty nuttyness, others have described it as smokey and dirt etc and I would fully agree there are all these elements in this scent, to be honest it sort of takes me back to when I was traveling Sri Lanka and India and it reminds me of the smells that I would pick up in those sorts of places - a unique pungenty smell and very nutty I really enjoy this scent and the slickness and fullness of the lather is phenomenal

Customer review

Mike's Natural soaps have been top notch for me. Having tried other soaps with very similar ingredient lists, I find my self still coming back to Mike's. I get a ton of lather with in no more than 30 seconds, and thats with hard water! One thing I will say is the soap is out of stock a lot. Mike is a one man operation and works hard to keep pumping out his product. Despite the long wait at times, it is worth every shave! The vetiver scent is my favorite, very earthy. To me it smells like grass and dirt, with a touch of smoke but in the best way. It is a fresh scent that just gets better when you add water to it. I appreciate his take on vetiver to be just one straight scent, no additional notes to blur it. Vetiver from start to finish! I would give this soap 10 stars if I could! Maggards is a fine supplier of shaving products, I am happy to do business with them!

Customer review

Mike produces a great soap.....and has a great price, too. I was a little worried purchasing his vetiver soap (as he says it can be a polarizing scent). I already have a tub of pine and cedarwood, so I was confident in the performance, just not certain of the scent. I read a review one time about B & M Leviathan regarding the scent.....give it some time, take it in, and contemplate all the notes of the scent. I would say the same thing regarding Mike's vetiver. If you are looking for a bright, light, uplifting vetiver you must check out Mickey Lee's Reunion or Cold River Soap Works Vetiver....both are outstanding. However, don't dare rule out Mike's vetiver. I agree with Kilgore from 2018, it has a beautiful, nutty, earthy scent that is addictive. I found, you just gotta stay with it. At first sniff, I thought I had wasted my money (entirely on the scent). But, as I continued to use it and smell it, I discovered what a gem it is in my den. Mike makes a fantastic soap, often overlooked by "bigger names." It does, though, deserve a spot in your rotation. Give the fine folks at Maggards your business. You'll be glad you did.

Customer review

I have tried many vetiver soaps and settled on two favorites -- Mickey Lee's "Reunion" and this soap by Mike's Naturals. Reunion is slightly swampy, and strikes a wonderful vetiver note. By comparison, Mike's vetiver is a little dressier. It has a nutty component ... sort of like opening a can of mixed nuts, combined with a very pleasant and distinct vetiver scent. Absolutely top-notch shaving properties, too. For vetiver fans, can't go wrong with either one.
