Pretty average overall

When I first received this and opened it, it smelt extremely strongly, almost pungently of sandalwood. I was worried it was going to be too strong for me. On the 2nd time opening and every subsequent time, it smells extremely strong of alcohol with very little sandalwood scent. I can smell the sandalwood a little bit when I put it on, but not very much. What smell there is dissipates very, very quickly. Overall this is a pretty lackluster sandalwood aftershave in my opinion.

In my opinion its the best sandalwood scent out there. Its just plain sandalwood. Clean, elegant, simple. The scent is so good I'm amazed its not triple the price. It the best of the CC aftershave scents.

I bought a sample of this earlier this year. My first thought the first time I used it was "Don't buy a full-size bottle!". I really didn't like it, so it sat for 6 months. Then I tried it again. Hmmm, maybe this isn't so bad. Used it a couple more times and I became addicted. I haven't tried other sandalwood scented after shaves, so I can't compare. The scent is strong enough for me and I can usually smell it around 3-4 hours after application. However, I stumbled on a way to smell it nearly all day. Just put some on your clothes. I spray a bit from my sample spray bottle on the armpit area and the scent is far more noticeable. It seems to work better on my moisture-wicking shirts than cotton shirts. I'm going to add this to my Christmas wish list. If the family doesn't buy it for me I'll buy one myself. Moral of the story...don't write off a scent if you don't like it at first. Put it away and revisit it a while later.

Sandalwood has never really been a scent I get too excited about. It is not that I dislike it, I just feel that it is not my type of scent. I purchased all of the Captain's Choice AS samples from Maggard's, and they have all been a home run. The best part about this particular one is the straightforward sandalwood scent. Nothing to throw it off course. Just pure sandalwood, nice and warm smelling. This will be the first time I have purchased a bottle of sandalwood scented anything in a long time. Same performance as all Captain's Choice products. If you are a Sandalwood fan, I can't imagine this not being a regular part of your routine. It will become part of mine, and Sandalwood isn't even my favorite scent. This stuff is really fantastic.

Great scent, great face feel. Only four **** because the scent is very short-lived, and not strong enough for my liking, but the lack of longevity and the mildness will be a + for some.
