It is suitable for any skin type. It generates a rich lather with a small quantity.

Rose shaving soap is presented in a modern and elegant crystal bowl of 200g with a screw on lid.

* Some advice from Martin de Candre on how to wet shave :

- Thoroughly wash your face with warm water for a couple of minutes.

- Always rinse your shaving brush well under warm water after each use and gently flick out the excess water. Too much water and the lather will become runny and will dry out too quickly when applied to face.
- Brush the shaving soap in a circular, whisking motion with the shaving brush until a rich lather forms. Do not press down on the bristles, as this may damage the brush - simply move in quick circular motions.

- Now use the brush to apply the lather to your beard in small, gentle, circular motions or in gentle painting motions.

Experiment until you produce a good lather.

- When finished quickly rinse the shaving soap bowl-like container under cold water to remove excess foam. Invert bowl so as to let soap drain and dry. Soap dries best when bowl is left open.

A good shaving soap used along with a shaving brush provides an extremely close shave making you feel clean and comfortable.

WOW! I’ve been wet shaving for 7 years and had a lot of time to try A LOT of creams and soaps. This is absolutely the best soap I’ve ever used, hands down. Having only one review on here before me does this soap no justice. “Is it worth it” is a question I saw asked a lot over the years about MdC and to me it never was because why would I spend this much on a soap. I’m a two pass shaver and will do two passes ever other day with one pass in between simply because of what my facial hair and skin will allow. Within a 24 hour period from a two pass with another soap I decided to use this soap for my 1 pass shave. It felt so great on my face I went for the second pass. Only two other soaps make it somewhat bearable to do back to back 2 pass shaves: Noble Otter and Phoenix Artisan but even with those 2 of my 3 problem areas will get a nick or some irritation. With this soap, no irritation/razor burn, nicks/cuts/weepers, nothing. Just a smooth perfect comfortable shave. I didn’t even notice my blade most of the time. The soap seems pretty hard and like it will last quite some time. It also completely fills the jar so it’s a little tricky to bloom without getting water on the sink but that’s a small inconvenience that is irrelevant at this point. The rose scent is beautiful. Between mild and medium off the puck and lingers lightly during the shave. I just happened to have Thayers rose petals for an aftershave but will probably want something to match a little better- plus i prefer alcohol base aftershaves. The fact that I took the time to write such a long review should speak volumes as a lot of other guys have on the boards as well. If you can handle the premium, then my answer to you for is it worth it is: absolutely!

I purchased a few samples of these soaps. The Vetiver and Fougère are simply awesome, but I truly prefer the Rose. The sent is truly wonderful and does smell like a bouquet of Roses, not in a feminine floral way what's so ever. It does smell natural and not synthetic what's so ever. Great sent and you truly use so little overtime that the soap is worth the price because it will last you for a VERY long time.
