*MASAMUNE RAZOR

All TATARA products are 100% produced in Portugal, is CNC machined in AISI 303 high grade stainless steel, hand finished and sandblasted, in order to give the beautiful final effect to a high-quality product.

The Masamune Razor was the first TATARA shaving product to be produced. It has been fashioned with the look of a classic safety razor but with unique lines of the future and, due to a minimalist design, is able to transmit our view supported by purity, elegance, and simplicity.

From a solid piece of material, we created a simple and sophisticated double edge razor that translates our vision into a consistent and precise shave.

CNC MACHINED FROM A SOLID 100% HIGH-GRADE STAINLESS STEEL
To ensure maximum performance and longevity, all the pieces are made from solid material and machined with tolerances up to 0,02mm.

CLASSIC 3 PIECES DESIGN
The Masamune series is in all aspects focused in simplicity and minimalism. It features the simple and classic 3 pieces assembly design that will never get old or compromise

UNIQUE FITTING SYSTEM Specially designed for the Masamune Razor and one of the exclusive specifications. It is responsible for:

– High perpendicularity between handle and razor head which permits a better precision during the shaving:
– Symmetrical load distribution on the threads preventing excessive wear and increasing resistance.

BLADE VIBRATION-DAMPING DESIGN
The wide contact area that supports the blade between the cap and base plate is one of the most important features of our razors. It guarantees that the blade does not vibrate during the shave, giving the smoothest shave possible.

COMBINE PIECES. FIND YOUR BEST COMBINATION - Exchanging parts between Masamune and Masamune Nodachi is 100% possible. Combine pieces and enjoy different blade exposures and gaps.

Customer review

Moderate gap, negative exposure as configured. Mild to moderate blade feel, low efficiency. PROS: 1) PVD finish is quite nice and seems durable. 2) Engineering touches are interesting; odd grooved pattern in the plate and an extra "ball' on the top of the handle that fits snugly into the head. These may contribute to... 3) Very tightly secured blade that offers an exemplary ATG shave. Blade is pinned down, eliminating all blade chatter. Chatter irritates some faces (not mine) and a secure blade helps with ATG passes in most cases. 4) Lightweight but not really light, a good midway between aluminum and tanklike SS razors. 5) Packaging is quite nice. 6) Handle is easily gripped, not at all slippery. Cons: 1) That odd ball on top of the handle means you can't easily mix and match cap and handle with other razors. 2) At heart, a pretty inefficient razor. Somewhere between a Karve B & C plate. Maggard's own V3M is a more efficient razor. Masamune is more efficient than the Feather AS-D2 and the ATT M1 plate, but those are low thresholds. I get about half as long of a BBS duration from this as I do from a Blackbird or even the very cheap RazoRock Lupo. 3) Price to value ratio. A Karve brass C plate is both more efficient and cheaper, and arguably as attractive. 4) The stippling on the handle looks odd, and the handle is rather short, about 82-83 mm. Bottom Line: If you want a prettier AS-D2 with an unusual aesthetic and slightly more efficiency, this may appeal. If you want an efficient daily shaver, there are better options at varying price points. A Karve C plate or ATT R1 will probably suit most better.
