The 38C razor is one of Merkur's heavyweights in the range. Long-time fans also call him MERKUR Barber Pole. It owes its nickname to the characteristic shape of its fluted handle, which was designed based on a Barber Pole. With its non-slip grip, it offers you a firm hold and thanks to its high weight, every move is made with stoic calm. It's a heavy duty razor, made to handle your beard.

This is a relatively heavy razor, weighing in at 100g.

Material: Brass handle, die-cast zinc razor head, electroplated surfaces, bright chrome

Blade Description: Closed comb, straight cut

Handle Lock: Long screw, two-piece razor

Handle Diameter: 1.2cm

Dimensions: 4.2 cm x 2.5 cm x 10.2 cm

Made in Solingen, Germany

Additional Info:

MATERIALThe head of the plane is manufactured using the zinc die-casting process, as this enables very precise manufacturing tolerances and complex shapes. In order to ensure a comfortable weight distribution, we only use brass for the handle. The chrome finish protects the razor from corrosion and underlines the high-quality design.

BLADE DESCRIPTIONA safety razor with a closed comb is the all-rounder for classic wet shaving. You will intuitively feel the correct setting angle of your plane and immediately admire the best shaving results. The generous blade gap enables a high flow of soap and thus protects the razor head from being clogged with cut hair or foam residues.

Customer review

I had purchased this razor with a bit of caution due to so many other Merkur products getting negative marks for being very aggressive. I've been using it regularly for two weeks now and I find it to be rather mild, similar to the level I get from my Edwin Jagger. I have not used the Merkur blade supplied in it, rather opting for Gillette Silver Blues and find this combination to give me a close, comfortable shave, easy to achieve BBS. It also has nice weight and balance, making it easy to maneuver. I had also seen some other reviews commenting on the razor being slippery when your hands are wet or soapy, but I haven't had any issue with that. Overall I'm very pleased.
