Proraso Sandalwood with Shea Butter Shaving Soap, 5.2oz

great scent performance not so much

The scent is excellent. A true sandalwood, but its difficult to lather. Hard to get more that one pass. It also leaves a think residue on the blade and in the razor and requires more effort to clean. Wont buy again, will try another sandalwood soap or cream.

Ordering was a breeze. All the items arrived and were well packed. Since I can't find any brick and mortar stores around me that sell these items, I was purchasing them site unseen and unsmelled. As it turns out, my wife does not appreciate the fragrance of sandalwood from Proraso. Most notably, the pre-shave balm has a very strong aroma. More so, then the shave soap. I have since purchased some unscented soaps and oils which I think will do the job. I personally did not have a problem with the fragrance, but as they say a happy wife a happy life.

I have been straight razor shaving for 4 years now and have tried a half dozen soaps or so and this is my favorite thus far. Has good cushion, slickness and lathers great with my Semogue 610. Also I prefer the scent over other Sandalwoods I have tried costing way more. A tub lasts me about 8 months. Great soap at any price.

I put off buying this since I thought it may have been similar to the other Italian shaving soap, I was so wrong. This is the easiest lathering soaps I have used; it's also one of the slickest. It has a good scent that gets better as you lather. It doesn't seem to dry out fast as some said, and is one of the least expensive soaps @ under $2 per oz. I also found it has good cushion even if it's a little too wet/thin and still slick if it's a little dry/thick. It does seem to soften my beard more than other soaps and rinses clean, leaving my skin feeling soft. I wish I would have bought this sooner.

Sandalwood is my favorite scent for all things shaving, and this soap is tops for me. For the price point, you seriously cannot find a better option. This soap has an awesome manly sandalwood scent, lathers like a mother, and protects and nourishes the skin. I have sensitive skin, and this soap works wonders. Honestly, you can't go wrong with Proraso- those Italians know what the heck they're doing! Oh...and if you have never ordered from Maggards before, they will become your primary shave shop rather quickly. They should travel to other companies and teach them the true definition of "customer service".
