Our Sherlock scent is inspired by the character brought to life in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in his classic series – The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes – written in the late 1800’s.

It is a warm tobacco based scent blended with toasted caramel, black pepper, moist dirt, and finished with a touch of leather, moss, mandarin, honey and rose.

Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Aloe Vera Juice, Beef Tallow, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Glycerin, Fragrance, Mango Butter, Avocado Oil, Silk Powder

The good stink

This soap is stinky. Good stinky, like a deep funk mingling with some sterile qualities. It’s a great rainy day or winter soap. I’m not typically a tobacco scent person but this one does it for me. What i get out of this is a tobacco-forward scent followed by moss and dirt, rounded out with a bit of a peppery spice.

I received a sample of this and had second thoughts about using it. The tub smelled like wet dirt, moss, and faint cigarette tobacco with a hint of camphor. After letting it sit in a shave cup the camphor disappeared. So, I decided to try it out. The scent really opened up when lathering. At first it reminded me of **** eating under some trees in the back yard. Then it evolved to remind me of a musty old library with someone sitting near by wearing an old leather coat with the residual smell of cigarettes on it. Not really a bad scent, but not one I would use on a regular basis. The soap performance was awesome. Chiseled Face soaps lather easily and offer a great shave. I have sampled some much more expensive soaps that are harder to use and don't offer as much protection or post shave moisture.

This soap is easy to lather. It explodes with great lather and the scent is the best. Its unique, it masculine. Its such a great change from the overpriced foo foo colognes you get at the mall. Plus we get to support a real artisan. The Santa Paula is great too. and of course you will want the Sherlock aftershave. Its great stuff at a great price.

This was my first soap from Chiseled Face. I found the performance to be equal to that of Mickey Lee, which for me is the best best-shaving soap I've used. It lathers easily and has the right balance of cushion and glide. The scent took me a while to warm up to. For the first week, I thought it mostly just smelled like potting soil and wet moss and honestly found the scent confusing. Eventually I started to get more of the leather notes, and I came to really enjoy this scent and looked forward to shaving with it every day. It's by far the most unique scent in a product I've used. I will definitely be purchasing this again, as well as other Chiseled Face soaps.
