It’s been two years since we made our last original scent - so this scent is long overdue, and I'm excited to bring it to you! With father’s day coming up, I’ve been thinking about all my dad has done for me, and reflecting on memories I made with my grandparents. This scent is inspired by them, and the name is the first word I think of when I think of them - loyal. No parent can hope to be perfect - but if you are loyal to your children and have their best interests in your heart - you are nothing short of amazing! This is not a work of fine perfume, but rather a time capsule to the memory of great, hard-working, blue-collar men. My dad and his dad owned a paving company while I was growing up, and my other grandfather was an apple farmer and did their level best to provide everything they could to make help their families thrive - I owe them so much. Loyal is comprised of the following scent notes: Cedar, Classic Old Spice, Musk, Leather, Coffee, Caramel, Amber, Vanilla, Soil, Petrichor, and the faintest hint of car fumes. While we still stand behind our OG base 100% and do not currently have plans to discontinue it, it has been five years since it was released and it was time to create a more modern shaving soap formula. We tested ingredient after ingredient racking up fifty-six test batches before we settled on this one. The main secret is a massive amount of silk hydrolysate which is a very conditioning, natural, film-forming agent which is used in a lot of anti-aging creams (anti-aging statement not evaluated by the FDA, Yaya, yadda, etc). Some of my testers reported feeling a skin tightening sensation - be aware that this is the film left by the silk hydrolysate. For best results, load soaking wet brush for 40 seconds in the tub, then build lather on wet face for an additional minute - this is a heavy loading soap, depending on your brush you will use 3-10 grams of soap per shave. This is due to the high of skin care ingredients to soap ratio. 4oz of tallow based soap in large plastic tub. Plenty of room to load your brush without losing too much lather over the sides. First off, lets get one thing clear – if you are looking for a fancy smelling soap, this is not the one you are looking for. This soap has no added scents, colors, or anything else. It's pine tar shaving soap. Just soap and Pine Tar. It doesn't smell fancy – after all, it is tar! What does it smell like? You've probably encountered pine tar, or something that smells like it at some point. What is pine tar? It's a natural tar extracted from pine tree roots by heating or burning it in oxygen reduced atmosphere. Today most people only know it as the substance baseball players use to get a tight grip on their bats, but it has a far more colorful history than that. It has been used to waterproof tall sailing ships, and to treat the rigging ropes against rotting while in use. Pine tar soap has been made and loved for well over 100 years, and after using it, we are not surprised – it's really good stuff. If pine tar soap worked for grandpa, it works for me too. Note: Our pine tar is made using a closed-kiln process and as such is creosote-free. Santa Monica Bay Rum - Based on our artisanal saponified shaving soap formula, our take on Bay Rum, named after the Santa Monica Bay which gives L.A. its glorious beaches. It begins with Pimenta Racimosa, a.k.a. West Indies Bay, plus a generous measure of Goslings black seal rum, and is rounded out with a variety of citrus and woody extracts and essential oils to provide a light and pleasant scent. Just the thing for a day on deck or on the shore, or for thoughts thereof. Please note that this is our new French red clay base, which provides excellent slickness and post-shave that rivals any tallow soap while remaining true to our vegan roots. This base needs a little less water than a lot of other soaps on the market, so load using a damp brush then add water to the point where a thick creamy slick lather is achieved. Each tub contains at least 4oz of shaving soap in a 8oz container. After many customer requests, we present Santa Paula, and all natural citrus based shaving soap. Santa Paula, CA is a beautiful little town, known as the Citrus Capital of the World. Several years ago, I spent a couple months there and fell in love with the orchards that stretched in all directions. This is my ode to them. Light and perfect for every occasion, I hope you enjoy Santa Paula as much as I do. An all natural blend of Petitgrain, Siberian Fir, Bitter Orange, Clary Sage, Litsea Cubeba, Siam Wood, and Cedar. D. R. Harris Almond Shaving Cream is a luxurious, traditional men’s wet shaving product which gives the very best lather. The Almond Shaving Mahogany Bowl is a traditional, solid white almond scented shaving soap of the finest quality which has been triple-milled to increase the richness and luxuriousness of the lather. Incredibly economical, each soap will last for several months. The bowl is in sustainably sourced mahogany effect sheesham wood (Indian Rosewood) and provides a lovely, old-fashioned bathroom feature. Wet the beard with warm water, apply a wet shaving brush to the soap, lather up either in a bowl or directly on the face and apply to the beard.
