  • Ardennes Coticule 150x40mm Sharpening Stone, Selected Approx. 8000-10,000 Grit
    $115.00

Ardennes Coticule 150x40mm Sharpening Stone, Selected Approx. 8000-10,000 Grit

    Ardennes Coticule
This listing is for one sharpening stone. The photograph is representative of what you may receive. Type: Belgian Yellow Selected, Mined in Belgium Grit: approx. 8000-10000 Ideal for: Sharpening/Finishing and edge retention. Not suitable for : Chamfering and chip removal Dimensions: 150x40mm, thickness varies. Directions for use: Wet the stone under running water and then pass the razor with “outward” movements on both sides, keeping the stone wet from time to time. Finish directly under running water. The stone provides a sharp and effective edge finish. Recommended for users with some sharpening experience due to the narrow size, this stone fits well in the palm of the hand. Although the estimated grit is 8000-10000, the abrasive power of this stone is very respectable. It only takes a few strokes of the razor over the stone to realize how much material is removed. For this reason, it is important for the user to be careful not to apply too much force to the razor when passing over the stone. According to the manufacturer, Ardennes Coticule, the stone is already lapped and ready to use. However, we would recommend flattening these stones before use. This stone should be used on the yellow side. Selected Belgian Yellow Natural Stone can be used with or without slurry. To obtain a slurry, we recommend using a Ardennes Selected stone bout (sold separately).

  • Naniwa A-206 Nagura Dressing Stone, 600 Grit
    $8.99

Naniwa A-206 Nagura Dressing Stone, 600 Grit

    Naniwa
The Naniwa Nagura Dressing Stone is an optional stone used for cleaning and refreshing the surface of Naniwa and other water stones. During sharpening, swarf, the waste metal removed from the blade being sharpened, can build up on the stone's surface. If not removed, the build up of swarf can slow a stone's sharpening action considerably. Using a Nagura Dressing stone, it is possible to clean the surface of a water stone without without removing as much material as more aggressive flattening stone would. This is useful when your stone could use a cleaning, but doesn't yet need flattening. Soak Before Use For best results, the Naniwa Nagura Dressing Stone should be soaked for several minutes until saturated prior to use. While your water stone is wet, rub the Nagura Dressing Stone on the water stone's surface until the surface is clean and free of the dark marks left by sharpening. Rinse the water stone thoroughly to remove grit left behind by the Nagura Dressing Stone before using or storing. Rinse the Nagura Dressing Stone and allow to dry between sharpening sessions. 600 grit. 2 3/4" x 2" x 1 3/8" (65mm x 47mm x 32mm). Made in Japan.
