The Club Signature Artisan Shaving Soap, 4oz - Kaizen 2 Base

Soap base performance is fantastic as all A&E soaps. I'm very ambivalent on the fragrance. I agree with Jason - it is cloyingly sweet. I honestly do not smell any of the notes in the description with the exception of bourbon. There's maybe a hint of woodiness, but I feel like I'm lathering up a chocolate cake when I use this soap. I'll still use it for its excellent performance.

This product didn't meet the hype, the fragrance seemed really cheap and simple and I was expecting so much more after seeing all the women in the advertising. Really disappointing after so many high hopes.

I was bored and wanted to try something new from a different artisan. I landed on this since the bottle for the aftershave looks cool (got it but didn’t use just yet). The scent is definitely on the sweeter side and quite the gourmand scent. The performance was great on this and the lather was fast and easy to build. The scent was noticeable during the shave but didn’t seem to last particularly long after. From my understanding the aftershave will make up for that. Overall, great soap and highly recommended. I will try their other products in the future.

By reading the scent notes I was pretty sure I would like it a lot, but in the end I'm glad I tried the sample before buying this (a big thank you to Maggard for giving us this chance). For me, this screams out sweetness, not masculinity. It's masculine alright, but very, very sweet. Note that all A&E soaps are very strongly scented too... Three stars because the performance is excellent. You might want to try a sample first though to make sure the scent suits you.
