Eleven Shaving Lime and Basil Artisan Shaving Soap with Tallow, 4oz - Julien Base

The scent and lather are excellent. It really does smell like fresh limes with a hint of basil. However, Eleven's soap base makes my skin feel dry and tight even after carefully rinsing all the soap off. I tried to shave faster to reduce the amount of time the soap touches my skin. But in the end it wasn't worth the stress for me and I stopped using it. 3.5/5

Last summer I had my bathroom renovated. All the stuff in the bathroom was packed up and stored away. When the renovation was finished I put all the stuff back. A box was missing with some of the wife's stuff and some of mine including a tub of Eleven Lime and Basil. No big deal, I had other soaps. Last week my wife found the box when she was looking for something else. This morning, almost a year later I shaved with the Eleven Lime and Basil again. WOW! I had forgotten how good this soap actually was. Effortless great lather, smooth shave , terrific scent. This company is one of those under the radar type companies. You dont read a lot about Eleven. This is a top tier shave soap with good bang for the buck..You wont be sorry with this purchase

Many soaps attempt to get the lime scent down and miss the mark. This one does not. Very dominant lime scent with basil undertones that I could smell more in the tub than on my face. On top of the amazing scent, the soap performed excellently for me. I thought I had added too much water and "accidentally" created an amazing lather that was the perfect consistency. More lathers with the soap will tell for certain, but this one appears to be a little thirsty. Plenty of residual slickness during the shave and my face felt more hydrated than normal. This is quickly becoming my 2nd go-to shave soap (beside B&M Seville). This was money well spent. Will be picking up the balm soon.
