Unparalleled Standards

  • AS9100
Manufactured at our aerospace facility in Ontario, Canada, our razor is built with the same AS9100 aerospace standards required to create satellite components.
  • Our blade exposure and blade angle are precisely machined to tolerances as tight as +/-0.00025" to provide a close shave with little, if any, irritation. Blade gap = .027" (.68mm) and for the AL13-M .033" (.85mm)
  • At 1.3 oz., this razor is ultra-lightweight and extremely agile, yet completely proficient, and is a joy to use. It is economically machined and coated with Type II anodize, which gives this razor the looks you want with the protection you need.

Shaving is a geometry problem.
Don't worry, we've done the math so you don't have to.

With a blade that only sticks out roughly half the thickness of a human hair (0.0013" or 33 microns), this razor eliminates all the unnecessary blade exposure. We've also incorporated the optimum shaving angle into the head design. By focusing on repeatability, we've virtually eliminated any learning curve associated with this razor. People used to using a multi-blade cartridge razor will be surprised how easy the transition is.

A sustainable shave.
More than 2 billion disposable razors and cartridges reach the landfill every year. With a Henson Razor, your razor blades can be recycled at most metal recycling depots. All aspects of Henson packaging are 100% plastic-free for a low carbon footprint from our factory in Canada to your door.

Note: Pictures shown represent both the AL13 and the AL13-M. With the exception of having different blade gaps, they are identical.

Perfect dual-edge razor as a beginner to single-blade razors converting from a multi-blade cartridge. The fact that it's already measured out the perfect angle takes most of the guesswork out of my routine which is daunting enough.

First and maybe last razor I ever need

I bought the Henson mild (in Tan, as it looks the best IMO) as my first DE razor after much deliberation and am not disappointed. I don't chase a BBS, so I can't give thoughts on how close this razor can get. The angle took some getting used to, but now I can do my passes faster and feel more confident with it. I only ever got cut once when I moved my hand sideways - so obviously through no fault of the razor itself. I've also dropped it more than once causing some dents and scuffs on the handle and the plates, but there was no performance reduction that I could tell. Seems like the extreme precision CNC is not as delicate as I thought. Of course, finding the right blade for you will make all the difference. For the money I've spent and the 8 months I have of using it, I am confident that this may be the only razor I ever need.

Decent razor for the price

After a few uses with this razor, it reminded me very much of my old Mongoose razor, which I sold a few years ago for similar reasons as to why I feel this razor is good, but not great. First, I do like a very mild razor and this one fits the bill. The included blades are not adequate though, so I would invest in some Feather blades, which work nicely with this razor as they do with the legendary AS-D2. The razor is also very light, which could be a plus or minus depending on your preference. What I don't enjoy about this razor is what I didn't enjoy about the Mongoose. The paint/coating really tends to stick if you use any vegan creams and/or have relatively hard water. What I mean is that sometimes when you use soap with certain water, you get that "squeaky clean" feeling where skin tends to stick--and squeak--when in contact with smooth materials. A matte or pebbly finish on a razor head will generally fix this problem, which is why I really love my AS-D2. That razor is clearly in a different price category, but Henson's emphasis on cost-over-time would apply there too. If you're using a razor for 10+ years, the cost-per-shave equation starts to even out. In the end, I bought this as my travel razor so that I don't have to risk losing my other razors. lt's a decent value at $70, but certainly nowhere near other elite razors on the market. It does come in cool colors, though, so that's a plus!
