Auryn tells the neverending story. It is the answer to the question "where does a circle begin?" Himalayan cedar, palo santo, and fern ground the scent in beautiful woods. Neroli provides a kiss of florals, along with the soft, fruity facets of bergamot and black currant. Sea salt provides an enveloping anchor that binds the scent together. This one's warm and masculine, inspired by hot tea. Warm, ambery tea with clary sage, cardamom, vanilla, oak, etc. It's nice and not so heavy that it won't transition into warmer seasons. There is a stark difference between spring and summer, and Contemplation falls squarely in summer. In spring, the flowers are in bloom and pollen is in the air, but by the time that July rolls around, the plants put off a different aroma. There is a green scent in the air: of citrus in a slowly ripening state while the vegetation underfoot is photosynthesizing in overdrive, drinking the in the sun. "Cuir et Épices" is the first scent exclusive to our new premium soap base. It is a blend of leather, tobacco flower, cedar, anise, oakmoss, and patchouli. This scent is unique unto itself and somewhat difficult to describe. The beta feedback was all over the place, but we think the closest to capturing the scent was: " This is what I imagine John Wayne's kitchen smelling like - soft leather, vaguely appley, with a twist of some kind of baking spice. Cygnus X-1 is sophisticated and fun at the same time. It evokes walking on a sunny day in the city, passing people dressed up for work. In computing, a daemon is a program that waits in the background for an event to occur before fulfilling its task. This Daemon's only task is making you smell inoffensively good. Darkfall is a spicy oriental designed to capture the spirit of fall in the rural south. Agarwood, amber, and benzoin provide a deep, warm base for the cinnamon and clove top notes. Epiphenomenon is a big word that essentially means 'a secondary effect or byproduct.' After the demise of Bandwagon I didn't set out to create another 'barbershop' - a completely subjective, ill-defined faux genre that led to multiple existential crises on the subjectivity of scent and precisely how untrustworthy our noses can be. I had no plans to develop nor release another. 'Fake Yellow Light' is from my favorite song from my favorite album and is one of my favorite scents to date. Definitely, in my opinion, the warmest scent I've released (I've been waiting to release this one until my bones were cold and here we are, Michigan). It's heavy leather forward off the puck with a nutty base and some nice warm amber and spices in between (this passed all of our skin/irritation tests and is fragranced at safe levels but, as always, if you experience any irritation please discontinue use). In the mid-18th century there lived a thoroughbred racehorse, presumably named after a particularly famous (or infamous) king. Were you to ask anyone on the street what they think of when they hear that horse's name, I would wager that they would immediately think of the king, not the horse. That particular king is, at least at present, most remembered for a particularly bloody-handed decision well known as the Massacre of the Innocents . While this particular name may be off-putting, the scent is magnificent - you might even call it royal. Top notes: cinnamon and pepper wood. Heart: osmanthus, tobacco leaf, labdanum and incense. Living up to its name, Mimic morphs from an amorphous form into a shave soap/aftershave inspired by Beau de Jour by Tom Ford. Now, I don’t speak French, but I initially thought it meant ‘man of the day’ and I had a Dumb and Dumber joke all teed up for this release: "What's the beau de jour?" "It's the man of the day." "That sounds good. I'll have that." Turns out it means "beauty of the day,” which, alright. It works because it's beautiful scent. Henry Shaw is responsible for Tower Grove Park and the Missouri Botanical Garden in Saint Louis. In that garden, flowers and plants from the Far East coexist to species native to the Saint Louis area. In this scent, reflective of Shaw's oasis in South City, the uniquely distinct smell of yuzu citrus, enveloping the unmistakably recognizable smell of rose and the dry, woody scent of patchouli come together so all three work together in unison to create something greater than the sum of their parts.
