Old school

This is a great aftershave if you’re looking for something softer in scent and more drying on the face. Scent wise, this smells like terre d’hermes. A lot like it, with an orange/vetiver/pepper combination that’s unmistakeable. It’s a softer scent with good sillage that remains noticeable without being in-your-face about it. It’s most reminiscent of fine’s “l’orange noir”, but Windsor doesn’t smell nearly as perfumey or “fragranced” to my nose. The ingredients do list oils directly from the notes it’s supposed to smell like that, and i believe this shows in the quality and complexity of Windsor’s scent. Performance wise, it also reminds me of Fine’s, but without the menthol. Alcohol is the primary player in this, but manages to do so without producing an unsavory burn. There’s not nary as much “skin food” in this as other big players out there, and thus primarily dries the face after application. There’s something about this one in particular, though, that makes you feel very, very clean after application. With a good shave this doesn’t really burn, and with a bad shave it stings a bit but doesn’t bite. I personally do enjoy this one. I feel like a gentleman after using it. And yes, it does have a stopper.

Decent scent, but D.R. Harris aftershaves really dry out my face compared to other companies' alcohol-based splashes. Also, there's no drip regulator, which is baffling in this day and age, not to mention the steep price for this. I was able to get a Stirling aftershave bottle drip reducer in there and it worked, provided I also ripped out the white papery underside of the top cap of the D.R. Harris bottle. Overall, not worth the trouble or cost.

((From sample bottle)) Wow very light aroma similar to sandlewood. My mom walks in and says "You smell like the beach" lol...It's sort of barbershop scent with sandlewood and a clean fresh scent. Got to say this is one of the best shaves I've had with my Mercur 34C HD with a brand new Israli Red Personna blade which I have never tried before. all of which resulted in a BBS shave. I am really impressed with the Israli Reds...wow. Anyways...... I would say Windsor is a clean sandlewood with hints of white peppercorn and some vanilla. It has a nice alcohol burn when you put it on for a couple seconds. Nice face feel, but not quite as nice as Mickey Lee aftershaves which is why I took one star off. Only wish the bottle wasn't $40.

My favorite aftershave because of the scent. It's masculine and classy. Get a sample and try it. If you like it, agitate for the 400 ml. bottle. If you don't like it, get FINE aftershave, which is almost as good, and agitate for 400 ml. bottles. These small bottles a joke, at least for me. Think I'll get Floid or something, out of spite.
