Sharp reliable blades, worth the premium

I tried at least a dozen other blades. Feathers get the closest shave with the least irritation for me, by far. My beard is very coarse, so it really prefers a sharper blade. They’re also very consistent in their performance, for the first three shaves. Wilkinson Sword and Gillette Silver Blue were runners up for me. I got many good shaves from them. But they lacked consistency in my experience. Feathers are definitely not the blade for new wet shavers, though. The first time I used a Feather blade, I slashed myself up real good. I suggest using Gillette or Astra blades for a couple months before trying these. Side note on that premium price. Keep in mind, 12 cents per shave is still a steal compared to cartridges.

Supremely Sharp!

Fantastic blade that lasts 5 shaves easily. I got this as part of a sampler pack and have had quite a few shaves with them. I strongly recommend using this with a mild razor and your prep routine should be on-point. I have used it with my more aggressive Parker razor and do tend to get nicked and the skin is a bit tender afterwards. Using my milder Edwin Jagger I have much more success and smoother shaves. Picking up a few more to go with a Feather razor!

For me Feathers are the most irritating blade I have ever used. They leave my face covered in weepers and rosy irritation (particularly on my upper lip and my neck). Nacet and Personna med prep have the same kind of sharpness, but are smooth and gentle.

Established wet shaver here. Feather works for me. Maggard's strong business profile and reasonable shipping cost brought me aboard as a first-time buyer. Time from order to my mailbox was two days. Quick note. I'd let my personal appearance go for years. Then I tightened up: wet shave, regular haircut, a flat cap or shaped hat (Bailey is good). Sounds corny, but people notice, and they treat you a bit better.

Nothing to fear, here. Feathers are sharp and mow down hair very efficiently. They are not, in my opinion, dangerous for anyone familiar with wet shaving. I have had no nicks or cuts using them. I have my best results with vintage Gillette adjustables (Slim, Fat Boy, Black Beauty) or Feather's own razors (the cheap one works pretty well with these blades). The problem, as others have noted, is that they lose that sharp edge rather quickly. I have medium beard density and average skin, but can only get two good shaves with these. After that, the third shave is noticeably worse and requires a lot more touch-up. They are about average in the smoothness department, but do not tug. I would keep Feathers for the occasions when you require a very close, BBS shave, but not a good choice for daily use -- they just wear out too fast.
