Maggard's saves the day. I had purchased a razor on amazon that had very uneven blade exposure. I don't know how but I didn't notice this until much later. ( Learned lesson inspect your purchases ) The razor head would not line up evenly no matter what I did. I got so frustrated one day I tossed the head. The razor has a pretty good handle went looking for a replacement head and what do you know maggard has the Muhle R89 head. Maggard saves the day fast shipping well packaged beautiful 89 head. The shave is much like my Mekur 34C so I'm totally happy. If your looking for a replacement head you can't go wrong with the Muhle R89. Good smooth shave persona blue blade no nicks or irritation. First off, I am very new to DE wet shaving (< 1 month) and, admittedly, I struggled for the first week. I started using the Maggard MR9 handle with the Maggard V3 head. Shark and Astra blades in that head gave me bad razor burn. But, to be fair, I'm pretty sure that I wasn't holding the angle correctly and I was developing a poor lather. So, my face suffered. I ordered this Muhle R89 head while my razor burn was still fresh. The angle and lather problems are behind me now and I think I have a pretty good handle on DE wet shaving (though, I am still learning). That said, I put this Muhle head on a Maggard MR7 handle and WOW! This is a great combination for me. I put one of the previously mentioned Astra blades in this head and I was very pleasantly surprised. You have to realize that my previous impression of Astra blades was that they would be highly recommended by Sweeney Todd (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweeney_Todd), but not anyone else that values their skin. And, the Maggard V3 head is working fine for me now. Honestly, I can't see much difference between this head and the Maggard V3, but I can tell you that this Muhle head is very smooth and seems to hold the blade at an angle that works very well for me.
