If you wanted a easier material for the pins use the brass ones. I got a set from a friend that had got them at Maggard & they worked fine. Slawman

Well David is right that this rod is hard. But I found through trial and error if you take your time and lightly tap tap tap the rod it will eventually mushroom and work. Is it tedious and time consuming? You betcha! But I have yet to see any person state that peening and pinning is anything but. So, take you time and do light tapping.

This metal is hard and is difficult to form. I tried three times and instead of creating a rivet I bent the rod. After destroying a set of hand made scales I threw the rest of the metal away and will have to start on another set of scales. Disappointed.

Brad has made some great how to videos. If you've never tried pinning a razor, don't worry - just pick up this kit and take your time. Restoration is a fun hobby and this kit is priced competitively. My personal preference is silver over brass most of the time and I've found the silver a little harder to come by at a good price including shipping. Get yours here.
