Face latherer

This is the perfect face lathering brush for me, witch limit its use for that specific. Small enough for nice control and swirling around, but not too big to get soap all around in my nose and ears. I use it when I want a nice exfoliation of the skin or when I go for a quick shave in between the shower routine shaves. On the plus side, it doesn't over use costly soaps. The D3 could be more versatile for bowl lathering, but with bigger knot. Other option would be Commodore X2.

Value wise this is a good knot, nothing amazing but another good choice among the modern choices now available. The tips have a mild scrub with no scritch. Backbone and density are medium giving the brush good flow through / release. It's pleasant and easy to use. The handle is a bit small for my tastes but it's comfortable in the hand. The small knot is maneuverable on the face and holds a respectable amount of soap. I'd prefer a Chubby style but the Duke would be a better choice for those who like small to medium knots.

Let's get one thing out of the way: the D2 is not amazing at any one thing. Instead, it is very good at a wide range of things. It's good at face-lathering, but some may find its knot size a bit on the corpulant side. It's barely long enough for bowl-lathering, but I can easily see some people getting lather on their hands up to the wrist. The D2 is definitely a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none brush, but once you get the hang of it, it's a workhorse. The legendary Simpson Best knot is on fine display in the D2 and churns through the densest of soaps to whip up lather in whatever manner you deem fit. The handle is incredibly comfortable in the hand, making this brush one that everyone should try.
