Speick Shaving Soap Stick, 50g

My first grown up shave soap and still my gold standard for slickness, ease of use, and value. Lathers effortlessly and has what is my idea of a classic barbershop scent -- woody, powdery, lavender-y. The perfect travel soap and while it seems a missed opportunity that it doesn't come in a plastic tube of some kind, in fact i just throw mine into my shaving kit as-is and it's fine.

This is a great alternative soap for people who hate the smell of Tabac since it performs so similarly. I personally do not mind the smell of Tabac and have it in my rotation. I grate this soap into a bowl since I don't like rubbing shave sticks on my face. It's very hard, smashing it with your fingers is out of the question as is melting it since it's tallow-based. It has a light sweet peppery aroma that is unlikely to either offend or thrill your senses, which is exactly what I like. It's a very hard soap which should last a very long time. If you bought 2 of these sticks and the Maggard 4oz plastic tub you could have many great shaves for a very fair price. Has plenty of slick and cushion and a nice post-shave feel. I wet the top of the soap and brush before showering and then drip-drain (not squeeze) my boar brush and load for about 120 swirls to get plenty of soap on the brush then face-lather adding a few drops of water here and there to thicken it up. The soap is very business-like and functional and a great soap to add to a respectable rotation of anything the "artisans" are making these days. If you prefer rubbing shave sticks on your face this is a fantastic bargain! It's also very small and easy to travel with.

Steve- November 29,2017 This a good shave stick. I purchased the travel tube and the stick fits very nicely. I am getting ready to buy my third stick. I don't repeat with a product unless I like it.

acceptable lathering, however it did not exactly create great shaves. The scent of the paper pamphlet was wonderful, but after a few shaves the scent turned into something very unpleasant that caused migraines. Did have good glide.

As a shower shaver, I really dig the Speick Shaving Soap Stick. I rub the soap stick on my beard stubble and then lather up with the brush directly on my face. Great lather, super-smooth initial "with the grain" shave. Great smell. Plenty of soap lather left on the brush for a second pass "across the grain". It is my new "go to" shave soap. Amazing!
