Scent Description
Our first original scent in quite some time, Varen was a project 2 years in the making. It was originally made for a Dutch wet shaving forum, so we gave it the name Varen, the Dutch word for "fern".

This natural fougere is a powerful blend of oakmoss, lavender, coumarin, vetiver, sage, cedar, lichen, and geranium.

WARNING: DO NOT USE if you are pregnant or have epilepsy due to the oakmoss content.


Ingredients: Mutton Tallow, Stearic Acid, Distilled Water, Castor Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Vegetable Glycerin, Essential/Fragrance Oil Blend, Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Milk, Lanolin, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Lactate

Best of the Best

Lather and slickness is beyond 5 stars and extremely comfortable to shave with, even with a dense thick beard. Straight razor just glides right through. No need for aftershave. Scent is something out of a foggy, cold, dark European forest. The wife and daughter like it just as much as me. 100% worth the full tub if you like earthy, plant scents. Not a sweet or perfume smell. My all time favorite for year round!

Awesome oakmoss scent

The base performs excellent, the scent is a fantastic rich oakmoss concoction. It smells a bit dirty on the puck, but once lathered it becomes amazing.

Unusual fragrance

Immediately after purchasing the product, I thought the scent was quite pungent and a failure, but after using it a few times, I liked it. Needless to say, the foaming performance far exceeds that of products of the same price. I am glad I bought it.

I'm updating my previous review. The scent was so dominant and overpowering that I consigned my sample of this soap to the trash . I'm glad it was only a sample. The lather was good though.

The lathering of Stirling Soaps are fantastic, hence the extra star but this fougere scent is in my opinion strong and rather sickly which lingers too long. I'm afraid this one is not for me.
