Boker 140203 Abalone 6/8 French Point Straight Razor, Professionally Honed
BokerThe Boker Abalone combines extraordinary design and outstanding performance. The die-forged blade of this exceptional straight razor consists of carbon steel O1 (1.2510) hardened to 59-61 HRC. Thanks to its superior characteristics and excellent edge retention, this carbon steel is the perfect material for premium straight razors. Apart from classic materials that have been defining the popular Boker Straight Razor for decades, we are always looking for modern and innovative natural material combinations offering a special look or feel that our customers will love. White gold, sea snails or sea ears are just some other names of the abalone. These mollusks live off the coasts of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Mexico and South Africa, attaching themselves to rocks just a few meters below the surface. As a great delicacy, they are desirable enough to have caused entire gang wars in the past. Today, the precious natural product is raised in water farms. The beautiful shells with their almost artificial looking shimmer have always been used as decoration, implements or material for jewelry, intarsia or mother-of-pearl clips. Employing cutting-edge production methods, a wafer-thin layer of colorful abalone is applied to a carrier and encased in transparent acrylic. The resulting durable material is perfect for making straight razor handles, enriching the piece with unusual colors and a three-dimensional look. The 6/8" blade of this exceptional singing straight razor has an extremely hollow grind with serration on both sides. The French point of the blade made from O1 carbon steel matches the unusual abalone handle. The simple laser engraving goes back to a historic etched pattern used at the start of the 20th century for particularly exquisite Boker straight razors. Comes in a frame case and with a certificate of authenticity. Boker 140557 Blue Shell 7/8 Square Point Straight Razor, Professionally Honed
BokerThe so-called broadswords refer to particularly powerful razors and not only inspire confirmed lovers of the classic wet shave, but also us, again and again. The mighty 7/8 inch wide blade of this exceptional razor also carries a Barber's Notch. Paua are crustaceans of the abalone genus, but unlike abalones they are only found in the unspoilt nature of New Zealand's coastal waters. They have been used by the Maori as traditional body ornaments for many centuries and are still used today as decorations for figures, weapons and meeting houses. The impressive handle scales are absolutely unique in colour and pattern. In addition to the extraordinary adhesion material, which is additionally provided with an ornamental rivet, the detailed blade laser engraving immediately catches the eye. A historical Boker etching, with which our razors were already decorated around 1900, served as a model. The blade is ground extra hollow with ridge. Boker 140612 Schwarzgold 6/8 Square Point Straight Razor, Professionally Honed
BokerWe wanted to pay homage to the extraordinary racing mare Schwarzgold with our elegant Straight Razor Schwarzgold with black Ruthenium coating on a base of a complete 24-carat gilding. Note: These are honed to order, there will be a brief delay in shipping in order to prepare the razor. Includes: Razor, Display/Storage Box, Instructions/paperwork. Schwarzgold was born in 1937 at the stud farm Schlenderhahn as the daughter of the stallion Alchimist and the broodmare Schwarzliesel. Schwarzgold was an exceptional horse in every respect. Contemporary sports lovers called the English thoroughbred a galloping machine, miracle mare, and superior horse. In 1940, she won the Diana prize with 6 lengths, the German Derby in the same year even with a legendary 10 lengths. The classic Kissaszony race was named after her the following year. Despite this superior and hitherto unknown superiority, it is believed that Schwarzgold was never pushed to the limit, meaning that she actually always galloped short of her true potential. The reason for this (and another fascinating fact that gave rise to the legend) was the difficult character of the mare. Her trainer Georg Arnull prohibited any use of the otherwise common bridle during training and during races. Everything Schwarzgold did, she did of her own will. Add to that the fact that Schwarzgold could only be used on sand since it was impossible to control her on grass. The specter of the NS regime hovered over every victory of Schwarzgold. Waldemar von Oppenheim, the owner of the stud farm Schlenderhahn and thus the owner of Schwarzgold was expropriated shortly after the victories. This put an end to any international career Schwarzgold might have had. As a broodmare, Schwarzgold gave birth to two foals. One of the two foals - Schwarzblaurot - continued the Schwarzgold line which still brings out numerous winners. We had to brainstorm hard to be able to convey the elegance and superiority of the mare to the knife dedicated to her without compromising. We finally came to the solution of coating the blade ground extra hollow with belly completely in 24 carat gold as a first step. The Ruthenium coating applied in the negative process only holds optimally on this basis and retains its incomparable anthracite color and silky sheen. Ruthenium is a chemical element with the label Ru and atomic number 44. It is an extremely hard platinum metal which is only used very little. It thus is congruent with the exceptional character of the eponymous Straight Razor. The handle material is just as consistently refined. The select and black Bog Oak Wood picks up the beautiful color combination of the blade and lives up to the outstanding quality of the entire knife. Includes certificate of authenticity and presentation display. - $529.00
Boker 140800 "14" 8/8 Square Point Straight Razor, Professionally Honed
BokerWhile forged razors and the classic wet shave are experiencing a renaissance, genuine broadswords are still rare. For the first time in decades, perhaps even centuries, 8/8 inch wide razors are back in our range. In times when the mighty blades were even more common, 8/8 inch wide razors with straight heads were called 14s. This marking was stamped into the tang of the blade before the forged blades were hardened. We did not miss this special feature and also implemented it in our Böker 14. The 8/8 inch wide blade not only bears a historical blade etching with partial gilding, but also a gilded blade back and tang, which is elegantly decorated by a filigree and detailed laser engraving. The complete polishing of the blade and the serration on both sides of the tang round off the features of this knife. We have also used historical models as a basis for the material used for the handle. The handle made of dark, slightly transparent acrylic blends harmoniously into the overall picture due to the subtle brass inlay. The blade is ground extra hollow with ridge. With authentic Boker stamp in the blade passage, certificate of authenticity and noble floating display. Handmade in the Boker knife manufactory Solingen. Boker 140919 Black Amboina 6/8 Square Point Straight Razor, Professionally Honed
BokerStyle is less a question of elegance than of character. The Boker Black Amboina proves to perfection that these characteristics can be perfectly combined. The expressive 6/8 inch razor is completely black with a burnished blade made of high-strength carbon steel for the first time. In this special process, the surface of the blade is transformed into a black oxide layer by treatment with acid, which is why it is not possible to speak of a coating in the classic sense. The extra-high ground blade has jimping on both sides and thus underlines the exclusive character of the Boker Black Amboina. Due to the balanced weight of the knife, the blade glides extremely pleasantly and cleanly over the skin. The hilt made of exotic Amboina wood impresses with its strikingly variegated grain, which in parts is reminiscent of wild carbon fiber. The wood, which originates from Southeast Asia, owes this special structure to its tuber-like intergrowths in the area of the roots, which gives each knife its unique character. The distinctive black and the pleasantly smooth surface of the handle are achieved with the help of stabilizing the wood. In this special process, heated epoxy resin is pressed into the wood pores and then hardened. The bulbous shape of the handle forms a successful contrast to the straight edge of the blade, expressively emphasizing the lines of the razor. Discreet visual accents in the hilt are found as eye-catchers in the two studs made of nickel silver as well as the silver Boker tree sign. Supplied with an authentic Boker stamp on the blade, a certificate of authenticity and an elegant floating display. Boker 7 Day Wood Box for Straight Razors, Black
BokerThe sensitive and fine edge of the straight razor mostly realigns after a sufficiently long resting period. If you give the edge a sufficient amount of time to recover after the shave, you can minimize the care effort and increase the lifespan of the straight razor. For this reason, one-week sets were popular from the 19th century into the 1930s. They contained seven identical straight razors marked with the individual days of the week in a wooden box. The Boker one-week box gives the enthusiast and collector the opportunity to configure his own one-week set according to his needs, with identical or different straight razor models. To make it less susceptible to moisture, we decided against using genuine leather and instead dressed the wood with high-quality synthetic leather inside and out, employing an elaborate wrapping technique. The pockets with the seven straight razor receptacles have been padded to prevent slipping. Diagonal ribbon closure in the lid and decorative brass brackets. Does not include any Razors. Dimensions: 220 mm x 175 mm Weight: 16.04oz - $49.00
