We’ve sourced a new safety razor head design that provides an extremely efficient shave with an incredibly mild feel.

These heads are designed similar to a vintage Gillette Tech in that there are not alignment pegs – the blade is aligned with corner notches in the top cap.

There is a substantial gap between the blade edge and the safety bar – -but, at the same time there is very little exposure. This creates an extremely comfortable, efficient shaver that runs through multiple days growth with ease but is so comfortable you’ll barely feel the blade!

Standard M5 x 0.8 threading

Materials: Zinc Alloy, Gray Finish

Warranty: 6 months from date of purchase

Mid-aggressive and efficient

When my wife dropped my EJ 89, I wanted a new razor to take it's place. I was looking for something to a tad more aggressive than my classic DE I use. The first use felt aggressive, but that's largely due to the pressure I used. Using a Super Speed gives you a certain muscle memory. I took more care on my second use, with far less pressure. I was using a fairly heavy Maggard handle, so the weight of the handle did much of the work. The shave was very efficient loaded with an Astra blade. The alum block didn't reveal any irritation. Bottom line, if you're looking for a truly Mild head, I don't believe this is for you. However, this is certainly an efficient head with proper technique and care.

While this head is milder than the V3A, I wouldn't call it "mild". In fact, after the first few shaves I thought it was still too aggressive for me and almost sent it back. But by modifying both my x-grain and against the grain passes to attack the grain a little less directly, I've found I can get a really close, comfy shave. So while it's not as forgiving as my EJ89, it leaves my skin feeling as good afterwards while providing a better shave. I do have to ding it a star though because the finish where the blade rests on the bottom piece had two pretty large black spots after just one shave. Maybe it resulted from the sticky gunk that comes on Feathers, but my other heads haven't been affected this way. Still, the finish is pretty and the spots haven't spread. And considering the price and that the spots don't show except when the razor is apart, I can live with this issue.

The build quality is fine. It holds the blade securely and fits a variety of handles. That being said, I don't find this head significantly different from the regular V3. In fact, I would describe them both as being closer to "medium" in aggression compared to something like a Mercur 34c or an Edwin Jagger DE89. Still, this is a well-made head at a bargain price. You may find it mild enough.
